Personal Protection Equipment

In the weeks following the terrorist attacks in New York, Washing D.C., and Pennsylvania, we've received many inquiries from clients concerned about potential future attacks involving biological / chemical agents.  We do not believe in adding to the hysteria surrounding the possibility of chemical or biological attacks nor do we recommend that everyone run out and purchase protective equipment for this purpose. We do believe in a measured, responsible approach.  Is it possible there could be an attack that involves the use of these agents?  The consensus is that there is.  But there are realistic issues that persons looking to safeguard themselves must be aware of:  1)  many agents can not be seen or smelled and you wouldn’t know that a biologic agent had been released until later or as people got sick; 2)  you would have to wear your gas mask 24 hours a day to be effective or at the very least carry it with you at all times.

In light of this information, there are those who still want the additional peace-of-mind and security of full preparedness.  Our office has extensively researched the leading providers in the nation of gas masks and supplemental safety equipment.  We've aligned ourselves with a leading manufacturer / supplier and are pleased to offer our clients this resource.

Manufactured by the company that supplied the U.S. Forces in Operation Desert Storm, MSA has shipped over 7.5 million chemical-biological masks to military forces around the world. With a total of 80 years in defense equipment engineering, the Advantage 1000 is manufactured in the United States and is effective against biological agents and chemical warfare.

The mask has a flexible, one piece polyurethane lens bonded to a durable Hycar rubber face piece. Features include dual canister mounting system, 6 point elastic head harness and a nose cup that helps minimize fogging.  When the wearer inhales, contaminated air enters and flows through the cartridges, which removes the contaminants from the air stream, so the wearer breathes in clean, fresh air.  An optional ESP communication system accessory (not included) enables compatibility with handheld radios.

Using the test protocol recommended by the Chemical Agent Safety and Health Policy Action Committee, assures that the gas mask and canister meet the requirements for effectiveness against chemical warfare agents.

Protection against CN and CS including P100 particulate efficiency. Also protects against DMMP, GB, AC, HCN, OC and CK chemical and biological agents.

Due to recent orders by the Department of Defense, general public availability for MSA masks have been delayed with long lead times for orders placed.  Our office has establish an alternate recommendation -- North brand gas masks (North supplied more than 75% of the masks used in the WTC cleanup).  These masks are currently in stock and available in larger quantities to the general public.
